If you have to publish everything in two languages (even if no one cares about one) then it takes nearly twice the amount of paper and therefore kills more trees.
True, but you assume that this goes to waste, when this is hardly the case if the extra printing allows to communicate with nearly twice as many people. Since the original intent of any publication is to communicate with people, you're just allowing yourself to better fulfill your objectives. Yes, there is an environmental cost to this, but, like anything else, it has to be weighed into the decision.
